About Anne-Laure

On leaving school I did an art foundation before being persuaded to study architecture at university because it was a ‘more sensible’ choice than following my heart to continue fine art.

I worked for several years in architecture and interior architecture practices in Paris, Barcelona and London.

In 2014 my friend Lucy and I left our jobs to drive our 1971 Land Rover around the Mediterranean to experience and document everyday life in North Africa and the Middle East. Our aim?  To add a positive layer of information to the picture portrayed in the mainstream media, interweaving the stories of the people we met with our own. You can find out more here.

After that taste of freedom I decided to become a freelance designer so that I could travel as much as possible between design projects. I visited Iran, Greenland, Mexico, Jordan and relished learning from other cultures and finding inspiring plants and landscapes to depict.

Now happily based in Edinburgh, I am looking at this new chapter of my creative journey. The magical city makes my soul sing as does the coastline with its ever changing light. I am excited to have the rest of Scotland to discover too. For someone who has had life long itchy feet, this really does feel like home!
